It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of Haydn Smith’s sudden passing on 19 April 2024. Hadyn was involved in softball both locally and nationally, serving as the Softball New Zealand CEO in the early-mid 2000s, and remaining active in coaching and youth development, serving as an U9 coach last season with Poneke-Kilbirnie Club. Haydn also was a member of the Johnsonville Fossils for many years. Haydn was known for having a huge passion for the game and had a significant impact on the game’s growth throughout the years. Our hearts are with Haydn’s family and friends that will be grieving his loss.
